Who is the Cheese Chick?

Christine Hyatt creates cheese-chick.com to share her passion of cheese.

Christine began her formal exploration of cheese in 1998 working the retail counter at the original Central Market in Austin, TX. What began as a "pay the bills" job quickly turned into a three-year journey exploring and selling hundreds of the world's best cheeses and teaching classes in the renowned CM Cooking School.

After two-year stint working with Anco Fine Cheese as a Cheese Expert specializing in Merchandising and Training and doing recipe development, Christine relocated to beautiful Portland, Oregon in 2003. Here, Christine worked for several years with DPI Northwest, focusing on Cheese Marketing and Education, identifying compelling product lines and shepherding them to market; educating corporate salespeople, retail and foodservice clients and their customers about the ever-evolving world of specialty cheese.

Christine's passion for sharing the wonders of great cheese inspired her to create Cheese Chick LLC, a boutique Cheese Education and Marketing company. She works with cheesemakers, retailers and consumers, raising awareness and understanding of one of nature's most intriguing foods.

Fascinated by food, photography and film, Christine launched cheese-chick.com in 2005 and added cheesetv.com in 2007. The sites are a portal to all things cheese including recipes, articles and video.

She is currently at work on two projects: The Cheese Immersion DVD, a multimedia experience which delves deeply behind the rind, immersing you in cheese appreciation from pasture to plate and Meet Your Maker, a documentary on artisan Cheesemakers in the Northwest. She also writes a monthly cheese column for the Oregon Wine Press..

Christine serves on the Board of Directors of the American Cheese Society and co-chairs the Marketing Committee.

A native of Bethlehem, PA, Christine now savors cheese and life in Beaverton, Oregon with her husband, Matt and son Aiden. She's a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, with a degree in English.
